Professional Work at the Philadelphia Mayor's Office: Planning Philadelphia's Bike Share Program

This project involved siting potential bike share stations in preparation for the launch Philadelphia’s bike share program, Indego. Our task involved synthesizing the guidelines and data of various city agencies; identifying viable public spaces; and taking into account the location of bike paths as well as Philadelphians’ input to ensure maximum accessibility of the bike share program.

The final product included technical drawings siting potential stations, as well as guidelines for how to proceed with the process of placing these stations. Bike stations in zone 1 were recently installed, while those in zone 2 are scheduled to be installed in the next several years. Implementation involved coordinating the Mayor’s Office of Transportation and Utilities; the Streets Department; B-Cycle, which designed the equipment; and Bicycle Transit, which operates the program.
