Combining the Portability of Folding Plates with the Flexibility of Tensile Structures

The idea of this project was to create a deployable structure which would also create interesting spatial conditions when deployed. Several study models were created to understand how material type and thickness would affect both the angle of the folding plates and the final tensegrity structure. The final product was a pair of folding plates which had the ability to post-tension the tensegrity structure when deployed.
